A reading of “En letras de sangre y fuego. Trabajo, máquinas y crisis del capitalismo” by George Caffentzis (2020, Editorial Tinta Limón)
Yesterday's and Today's Struggles against Capital
Keywords:
machines, capitalism, common, labourAbstract
George Caffentzis leaves us in "In letters of blood and fire. Labour, machines and crisis" a series of political essays in which he spins multiple ideas: the relation energy/labour; the broadening of the category of labour; the idea of enclosure and its re-actualisation; the notion of commons; the theory(s) on machines, an object not explored in depth by Marxism; and some comments on finance, debt and money. We propose to comment on some of the key ideas that run through the book, focusing on the relational character of each concept, according to the author, connecting some of these ideas with experiences in recent Argentina. We also recover Caffentzis' proposal in relation to a growing and necessary solidarity among the struggles of yesterday and today, and how we should focus on the defence and construction of the commons.
